Gamma kicked off its first ever 5-a-side Charity Football Championship at Shoreditch Powerleague last month. Twenty-two teams fought it out to win the inaugural Gamma Cup, however there could only be one overall winner, with Focus Group taking the honours.
After tightly contested group stages, teams were sent into either the Cup, Plate, or the dreaded Wooden Spoon competition. A special mention also to the winners of the Plate final Glemnet, and the winners of the Wooden Spoon competition STL Communications. The less said about the Gamma ‘old boys’ team the better, who couldn’t even win their Wooden Spoon knockout match!
Played from start to finish in the right spirit, the tournament was a shining testament to the relationships that Gamma has with its channel partners, but indeed more, how the channel has time and respect for one another.
The day finished with a well-deserved BBQ & charity raffle, then it was off to the pub for an intense debrief of how each teams tournament was won and lost and of course an opportunity for our partners to network and rehydrate.
The tournament was not only about providing an entertaining day out of the office for our channel partners, it was also about raising money for two charities that are very important to Gamma. We are pleased to confirm that £12,500 was raised for our chosen charities – Special Effect and Action Through Enterprise.
Andy Smethurst, Head of Channel – Unified Communication said: “The event has been a huge success, massive thanks to all our partners for their contribution, both in terms of the time given and the money donated. These donations will make a huge difference to our charities, and pleasingly it means we can definitely say we will be back next year, bigger and better. The standard of football on display was impressive, and the tournament was played in the right spirit. Congratulations to the overall winners Focus. See you next year!”
Ralph Gilbert, Director at Focus said: “It was great to participate in Gamma’s inaugural Charity Football Tournament. It’s always good to have an excuse to get the guys out of the office for a kick around, especially when all the proceeds go to such good causes, SpecialEffect and Action Through Enterprise. We’ve been involved in a lot of Gamma’s charity events which are always really well run and are looking forward to defending our title next year.”
It was a busy September for partner events with Gamma also hosting the annual Spa Day at Donnington Valley Hotel and Spa. Sixteen partners and Gamma staff attended the day, indulging in two treatments, lunch and use of the fantastic facilities at Donnington Valley.
Louise Fairley, Partner Programme Manager said: “We continue to host our annual Spa Day as it provides an excellent opportunity to spend some quality time with our partners and allow them to network and share ideas with other Gamma partners. Having received some superb feedback on the day, this year was another resounding success, so thank you to all who attended. We hope to see you next year.”
Rebecca Sethi, Senior Product Manager at Arrow Business Communications said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the Gamma Spa day. It was great to network with fellow resellers and catch up with the Gamma team in a relaxed atmosphere whilst indulging in a treatment or two.”
