What services are available?

Three service options are available based on how they are technically delivered. These services provide highly reliable and ultra-fast data connectivity, delivering dedicated and uncontended bandwidth to your site.

Fibre Ethernet

This service is delivered using end-to-end fibre optic connections and provides dedicated, secure, uncontended business-class connections for all voice and data traffic. Ideal for organisations wishing to converge voice and data on a single connection:

  • Highly-reliable, secure and fast data connectivity
  • Helps reduce the cost of private networking while improving the quality of service support
  • Options for services over either 100Mbps or 1Gbps circuits
  • Symmetric speeds from <10Mbps to 1Gbps
  • Scalability and flexibility that you can’t get from legacy services
  • Robust, end-to-end SLAs that include 24/7 UK-based support with 6 clock hour fix time SLA
  • A single, accountable supplier

EFM (Ethernet in the First Mile)

Our EFM service is a converged internet and voice solution delivered over aggregated copper pairs with dedicated and symmetrical speeds of up to 35Mbps:

  • Lower cost option to Fibre Ethernet
  • Much faster delivery time then Fibre Ethernet
  • No compromise on quality or service levels
  • Inherently resilient and reliable service with 8 clock-hour break fix time
  • 24/7 monitoring with UK-based helpdesk

FTTC Ethernet

This service is delivered using Fibre To The Cabinet (FTTC) technology:

  • Fast, reliable access at a lower cost level than EFM
  • Symmetric speeds of up to 20Mbps with the option to purchase up to 80Mbps downstream
  • Faster delivery lead times than Fibre Ethernet and EFM services
  • Reliable service with 8 clock-hour break fix time
  • 24/7 monitoring with UK-based helpdesk

Do I really need Ethernet for my business?

Ethernet is now the de facto high-speed connectivity technology of choice, as organisations seek to capitalise on the increasing demand for more bandwidth provided over fast and reliable technology. As more services and applications are being positioned over Ethernet, driven by cloud-based and hosted technologies, there is strong demand for both a decrease in costs and an enhancement to the service wrap.

Is Ethernet the right choice as we adopt cloud-based services?

Organisations of all sizes are already in the cloud (IP telephony, hosted applications like SharePoint or Salesforce and even remotely backing up individual PCs). But as this trend increases, so does the need for high-performance, reliable and fast connections. Our family of Ethernet services provides businesses with this essential foundation.

How easy and how much is it to install?

Our high speed, scalable Ethernet products can be delivered in as little as 20 working days for FTTC Ethernet, 30 days for EFM and 60 days for Fibre Ethernet. We’ve structured our pricing so that no capital outlay is required on 3 or 5-year contract terms.

How secure is Ethernet?

Gamma Ethernet is inherently secure because it operates as a point-to-point service over a dedicated network infrastructure. However, if a connection is provided to the internet, additional security services such as firewalls will need to be implemented. Our free fraud management services available through Horizon and Gamma SIP Trunks protect you from fraudulent activity from endpoints that have fallen victim to hacking or excessive unauthorised call spends.

How resilient is Ethernet?

Our optional resilient failover solution gives you the assurance of enhanced service availability levels to support business-critical applications and provides high protection against unforeseen network incidents. We have a range of failover options for increasing the resiliency of your primary service from FTTC Broadband backup right through to Fibre Ethernet solutions routed via different exchanges and network nodes for the highest level of resiliency.

Can I use existing fibre installed at our premises?

All quotations assume existing fibre is present and available for use as per the industry standard. A site survey will still have to be carried out to ascertain whether the correct fibre is present and available for use. This can only be determined following the submission of an order.

How does Gamma ensure quality?

Our network was conceived and engineered specifically for business users. This means that at peak times your customers’ time-critical and business-critical applications will always be prioritised. Quality is assured through:

  • Extensive monitoring of all elements and metrics within the call path both TDM and IP including but not limited to, Post Dial Delay (PDD), Answer to Seize Ratio (ASR), Network Efficiency Ratio (NER), Mean Opinion Score (MOS), Perceptual Analysis of Speech Quality (PESQ) Score, Call Closure and Error codes for C7 and SIP signalling, Jitter, Latency, Packet Loss, Trunk and Circuit occupancy, uptime and trends
  • Proactive call testing and analysis for all platforms and services
  • Appropriate and timely alerts of potential issues and ‘hot spots’ to our 24×7 Network Operations Centre
  • Review of external and internal reports including customer feedback via support desks
  • Strict Change Control and Release Management process aligned with our suppliers and carrier partners to prevent related quality or service issues
  • Oversight through a monthly Quality Steering Group meeting chaired by our CEO that includes input output from our regular Platform Service Reviews, Capacity Management, Information Security and Business Continuity forums
