Gamma raise more than £8,000 this summer for their chosen charities

It has been an eventful summer for Gamma hosting two major charity events and raising more than £8,000 for their chosen charities, Action Through Enterprise and SpecialEffect. After the success of the first ever Charity Football Championship in 2017, Gamma once again hosted the day at Shoreditch Powerleagues. It was a great effort from all fourteen teams, who battled it out for victory in what ended up being one of the hottest days of the year.

There can only be one winner though, with the team from Welcomm taking out the championship. Congratulations also to STL Communications for winning the Plate. The day finished with a well-deserved BBQ and charity raffle, and then off to the pub for a well-deserved drink and cool down.

The event follows another successful Mountain Bike or Road, Gamma’s annual charity cycle in Hungerford, which is now in its 5th year. Forty-five cyclists met at Hungerford Rugby Club for breakfast and a safety briefing fully energised for the cycle challenge ahead before heading out to see what Hungerford had to offer.

Due to the success of previous years, Gamma continued with a road and a mountain bike course, a popular format as it provides much more variety for participants. There were four tracks in total, two routes for the road cyclists (38 and 61 miles) and two routes for the mountain bikers (24 and 30 miles). All groups having to tackle an ascent of at least 2000ft.

After a quick spot of lunch at the Crown Inn, Upton the groups were off again – with only some of them managing to escape the rain. The day finished back at the rugby club with a (much needed!) BBQ, which provided a great opportunity for everyone to catch up.

Andy Smethurst, Head of Channel – Unified Communication at Gamma said:

“It was fantastic to see so many partners attend our Mountain Bike or Road event for the 5th year running, regular and new faces were welcomed alike, and everybody had a lot of fun putting their bodies through the mill on some challenging road climbs and mountain bike courses, with some good cheer back at Hungerford Rugby club, tales of punctures, falls, and a few sore muscles all over a beer and delicious BBQ. A big thank you to the Xtreme Energy team for putting on the event, and the Hungerford Rugby club for hosting and catering.

Gamma’s football tournament successfully entered its second year, and despite the scorching heat, it was wonderful to have 14 teams battle it out, in what was a competitive, highly skilled (well mostly…), and most importantly well-mannered tournament. A huge thank you to all the partners that attended and Shoreditch Powerleague for putting on the event, as well as a congratulations to Welcomm the overall winners, and everyone for their efforts in raising great amounts for our two chosen charities: SpecialEffect and Action Through Enterprise. That beer at the end of the day tasted very good and well earned!”

“Thank you to Gamma for once again hosting these fantastic events this summer. The Welcomm team were thrilled to attend and as always enjoyed themselves immensely. These events are a great opportunity to have a fun day out of the office whilst we catch up with the Gamma team and network with other channel partners. The money raised goes to two very deserving charities and we are happy to be a part of that.”
