A note from our Managing Director, David Macfarlane

David MacfarlaneNow more than ever, it is imperative that we can communicate and collaborate with each other. Being able to reach a common goal is at the forefront of our business practices.

While business leaders are currently strategising how to make crucial and rapid decisions, it’s time to balance your plans for the future with the safety of your current staff. Many businesses will be wondering how they can provide a fully uninterrupted and high-quality service as they move their teams into a new style of working and a new form of ‘business as usual’.

Maintaining a productive and resilient business might seem like a challenge, but with the right tools, moving to a remote and distributed strategy doesn’t have to cause widespread workforce disruption.  In fact, early indications are that staff are investing those saved commuting hours into their new business day, increasing productivity.

A remote business strategy is vital in this “new normal” and provides you access to technology that makes communicating stress-free and your teams more productive.  In the meantime, you’re building agility and creating a more resilient infrastructure for the future.

Within Gamma, we have always eaten our own dog food and embraced remote working and collaboration from its Genesis; our business is underpinned by flexible and remote working and we have been operating in this new normal for many years.  To this end, we are well placed to provide both short and long-term support as our customers do the same.

To assist your business through this transition we have put together a special edition of Communicate, built to offer you the best possible solutions and advice around remote working and the new normal, so you and your team can continue to remain safe while producing excellent results.

The March Update:

Top tips on remote working

What is the most effective way to #FeelConnected when working remotely? Distractions are all around us and, for some, working from home is a new style that can take a little time to get used to.

Being plucked out of the familiarity and setting of our office can be daunting at first, with the fear of a ‘disconnect’ building between departments or lack of motivation. But along with any concerns come a vast array of benefits including skipping that dreaded commute, not having to deal with the ever-changing volumes of a bustling office and, when it comes to meetings, you can forget the stress of scrambling to find a conference room – simply dial in within seconds and from the comfort of, well, any room in your house!

At this uncertain time, businesses and their workforces are expected to be more agile than ever before. Adopting remote technology doesn’t just benefit your team on a personal level, it can also make your customers lives a lot easier.

You can learn more about the benefits of remote working and how to choose the technology that best suits your needs in our ‘Game of Phones: A complete buyers guide to UC’ session, led by UC specialist Joe Pratten at last year’s IP Expo Europe.

However, one thing managers might be wondering is how they can effectively track team productivity. If this is a challenge you’re currently facing, we’ve got you covered. Find out the best way to maintain productivity within your mobile workforce here.

Considering your workspace, developing a routine, embracing the perks and investing in reliable technology are just some of the things that need to be taken into account when you set up your remote station. But where to start?

Gamma acquires Microsoft Gold partner, Exactive

We are thrilled to announce that Gamma recently acquired Exactive Holdings Ltd, a fellow Unified Communications specialist and one of a small number of Microsoft Teams Voice partners operating within the UK.

The acquisition of Exactive builds on an existing partnership and enables us to provide a complete range of services for Microsoft Teams.

Gamma has worked alongside the Exactive team for several years on joint projects involving the London Stock Exchange Group and the Guinness Partnership.

Impressively, Exactive has developed a multi-tenant Microsoft Teams PSTN routing platform, named Cloud UCX. Like Gamma, the company has a deep expertise in the UCaaS field and is the UK’s longest established Microsoft Unified Communications specialist.

Andrew Taylor, Chief Executive of Gamma, said: “We are really pleased to announce the acquisition of Exactive and to welcome Scott and his entire team to the Gamma family.

UCaaS is an ever evolving and rapidly growing market that we plan to be at the heart of, across all customer environments. Exactive helps us to address a part of the market that is already embedded in a Microsoft ecosystem. This will be an essential part of our UCaaS strategy in the years ahead.

We are really looking forward to working alongside the Exactive team as we continue to grow Gamma, leveraging our experience and resources, to capitalise on the opportunities ahead.”

The news comes following our announcement that we had acquired Telsis in November 2019, all of which helps to further strengthen our leading UCaaS offering.
