Well I hope everyone has had a great summer. It was great to meet more of you as I get around the sites (with Manchester and Port Solent still to go). I did however really enjoy the chance to chat with many of you at GammaFest. Wasn’t that fantastic fun – clearly the talent in the company goes well beyond telecoms. With some 730 people in the business now I think it’s really important that we take the opportunity to get together and celebrate some of the success the company has had.

These successes are recognised by BOTH shareholders and the industry as a whole. I donned my kilt to attend the Comms Business annual awards evening, which this year was presented by Lenny Henry. We have often done well at these awards ceremonies, but this year was exceptional – we won all three we entered; Wholesale Provider, Market Maker award for Connected and also Customer Service Team of the Year.

I was delighted to be joined on the stage by John Murphy and Jo Shuttleworth. Throughout the evening I received many compliments about the company, its products, its services and you, its people – even from our competitors (The Connectivity Award was presented by TalkTalk!). We should all feel proud as this is genuinely quite exceptional.

SIP trunks evolve with Call Manager

Gamma SIP Trunks for channel partners


Gamma Mobile goes live!

We are pleased to announce that we have launched the new Gamma Mobile service this month. Bringing this service to market signals a significant change on how we provide mobile services and allows us to differentiate our mobile offerings from the competition, the main mobile network operators.

The service is based on the mobile network infrastructure that we invested in back in December 2014, coupled with an agreement with 3 as the primary network, together with a network roaming agreement that supports our unique business service, MultiNet.

The Mobile service has been live since July in supporting the migration of our current connections from Vodafone to the Gamma infrastructure. You may have seen some coverage in the business press recently after our formal press announcement, so we are now beginning to sign up new customers via both the direct sales teams and Channel Partners to increase the mobile connections base.

Bringing this service to market has been achieved by a great team effort from many parts of the organisation, and through your hard work we are now in a position to utilise the mobile service to make a very significant contribution to the future of our business as a converged communications services provider.

Once again, our staff have been organising some amazing events, especially for fundraising. Gamma staff are always so generous helping others that may not be so privileged as ourselves so congratulations to everyone who has helped arrange or taken part in these fundraisers.

This year was the 10th anniversary of Peach Amber, the Budapest Gamma office, and to celebrate the staff had dinner in May in a great Italian restaurant. They also celebrated by having a summer event at Viaferrata, with rock climbing followed by dinner at a beautiful lake not far from Budapest.

On Wednesday 14th September we held a Cycle to Work Day for the second year running. The idea is simple – staff pledge to cycle to work and in return Gamma provides you with a free breakfast. We had 40 employees take part across our offices, with some cycling over 70 miles for their free breakfast! Well done to all who took part and made their commuter a little healthier and better for the environment.

So if cycling to work has made you feel pumped up for more, why not join our new Ride to Work scheme through GammaRewards?

Through Ride to Work you can obtain a new bike and the appropriate safety equipment out of your salary before tax. The advantage of using the Ride to Work scheme is that you will save tax and National Insurance on the cost which is not available if you get a bike straight from the high street. The main use of the bike must be for at least some of your journey to work.

To raise money for the Royal National Lifeboat Association, Gamma has been taking part in the H2O only challenge.

Those who took part made a pledge to drink only water from 13th – 23rd September – easy right? Well, 15 Gamma employees took part and have raised nearly £100. A massive thank you to those who got through the two weeks and avoided those naughty fizzy drinks and cheeky pints and raised money for this great cause that rescued 9,763 people in 2015 alone. Kat Ching and Emma Bell from Port Solent have managed to last the course, although I believe a bottle of wine may have been opened shortly afterwards!
