We made a commitment to reducing carbon
footprint across our network back in 2006 through investment in the
efficiency of our IP based network and other assets and today Gamma
is a fully certified CarbonNeutral company making us the only
network operator in the UK to have a net zero carbon footprint.
How is Gamma CarbonNeutral?
We follow these three steps to become CarbonNeutral:
Measure
The company is independently assessed by Greenstone Carbon
Management for its carbon footprint at the end of each financial
year, taking into account all utility usage, business travel and
waste across each site, as well as the electricity consumed by the
network.

Reduce
To be a certified CarbonNeutral company, we need to demonstrate
that we have worked to reduce our emissions. We take steps to
improve energy efficiency and to reduce emissions through
investment in our soft-switch network (which replaces a
power-hungry hardware infrastructure) and we also promote recycling
of waste, a ride to work scheme and car sharing as well as
encourage our staff to make conference calls instead of travelling
by car to business meetings.
Offset
Each year, we offset our remaining net emissions by investing in
voluntary emissions reduction projects. So, for every 1 tonne of
net CO2 emissions that Gamma emits, we're reducing 1 tonne of CO2
somewhere else in the world. These projects include a geo-thermal project in Turkey and a biomass project in Sri Lanka. To learn more,
please read our FAQ about how Gamma is CarbonNeutral.
CarbonNeutrality - a differentiator when selling to your
customers
Gamma is a certified CarbonNeutral company, compliant with The
CarbonNeutral Protocol which means that customers who use any of
Gamma's services, whether its CPS minutes, SIP Trunking or data
services, are using an environmentally friendly service that has
net zero carbon output. This provides channel partners with a great
differentiator and can also open up further opportunities in the
public sector in particular, where carbon reduction is a key
objective.
Use the Green-o-meter on the left of this page to work out the
telephony carbon footprint of any business, which could be offset
when using Gamma's services.
